*ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday served the contempt ofcourt notice to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.*

Justice Amir Farooq was hearing the case pertaining to ban the livecoverage of Nawaz Sharif’s contemptuous speeches.

While supporting his petition, advocate Makhdoom Niyaz Inqilabi pleadedthat Nawaz Sharif has been constantly disgracing judiciary and other stateinstitutions on media.

Therefore, a stay order should be issued halting the live broadcast ofNawaz Sharif’s speeches unless the high court issues a verdict in the case.

The petitioner further implored that newspapers should also be barred frompublishing the contents of Nawaz Sharif’s speeches.

IHC issued contempt notice to Nawaz Sharif, whereas notice were servedseeking reply from the Ministry of Information, Pakistan Electronic MediaRegulatory Authority (PEMRA) and Press Council.
