Pakistan Rangers – Indian BSF hold commanders meeting

ISLAMABAD – Amid ceasefire violations despite DGMO level talks, the BorderSecurity Force (BSF) officials met Pakistani Rangers on Monday to ensurepeace in border areas.

“A BSF-Pak Rangers Sector Commander level meeting was held at 05:30 today.Meeting went off in a conducive atmosphere with prime focus to maintainpeace and tranquility on the border,” said BSF PRO (Jammu Frontier). Thenext meeting is scheduled to held on June 21.

The official said that today’s meeting is likely to bring firing-freeenvironment, particularly for border area villagers on both sides.”Commanders on both sides agreed to keep talks on at every level to developconfidence between two border guarding forces,” he said.

There have been a series of attacks on security personnel since last week.Earlier today, at least 16 people, including four policemen, were woundedin Shopian district when militants hurled a grenade at security forces in abusy market.

In the early hours today, intermittent firing and shelling was reported inAkhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
