PPP decides to ditch it s symbol ARROW in General Elections 2018

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) on Monday decided to contest theupcoming general elections with “Sword” as its electoral symbol instead ofits famous electoral symbol “Arrow”.

Sources told Dunya News that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) willtake up the petition tomorrow (Tuesday).

PPP senior leader Nayyar Hussain Bukhari filed an application in the ECPafter the approval of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

It is pertinent here to mention that the PPP had contested generalelections with sword as election symbol in 1970 and 1977.

Sword was the election symbol of Pakistan People s Party (PPP) headed atthat time by late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Sword was deleted from the list of prescribed election symbol by Gen ZiaulHaq after 1977 general election.

Later in March 2010, the ECP had restored the symbol deleted from the listof approved poll symbols by military dictator Gen Ziaul Haq in the late 70s.
