LAHORE: Former Punjab Chief Secretary Nasir Khosa has been appointed ascaretaker CM in Punjab.
Earlier the Names of four candidates for the position of caretaker primeminister of Punjab had come under consideration, sources informed.
In a meeting between Punjab Chief MinisterShehbaz Sharif and Oppositionleader in Punjab Assembly Mehmood-ur-Rashid the candidature of formerPunjab chief secretaries Nasir Khosa and Kamran Rasool, proposed by thelatter, was discussed.
The provincial government has proposed the names of Justice (retd) Sair Aliand former Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) Tariq Saleem Dogar,said sources.
Shehbazand Rashid are expected to meet again on Monday (May 28) to reach aconsensus over the nominee. Candidates apart from the four individualsproposed are likely to be considered during the during the meeting.
Jamaat-e-Islami had earlier recommended former chief justice of Lahore HighCourt Mian Allah Nawaz and former federal secretariesDr Safdar Mehmood andKhizer Hayat Gondalfor the position.
