ISLAMABAD: The army on Monday ordered an inquiry against formerInter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lieutenant General (r)Asad Durranifor writing a “controversial” book, titled: “The Spy Chronicles”.
The former spy chief co-authored the book with the former head of Indianspy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief AS Dulat.
He has been summoned to the Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters (GHQ)today to explain his position under the light of the military’s code ofconduct as the “book states many facts that do not reflect the reality andmight be considered as a violation of the code of conduct”.

The Director-general of the Inter-Services Public Relations tweeted aboutthe summons on Friday.
“Lt Gen Asad Durrani, Retired being called in GHQ on 28th May 18. Will beasked to explain his position on views attributed to him in book ‘SpyChronicles’. Attribution taken as violation of Military Code of Conductapplicable on all serving and retired military personnel,” Major GeneralAsif Ghafoor posted.
The development came after former premier Nawaz Sharif and PakistanPeople’s Party (PPP) Senator Raza Rabbani voiced their reservations overthe book.
Speaking to journalists in Islamabad on Friday, Nawaz had demanded that anemergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) be summoned overthe book written by Durrani.
The former premier said that a trustworthy national commission should beconstituted to look over such matters.
