CHANDIGARH – A local court in Indian has awarded 20 years imprisonment to aman for raping his two minor girls, eight months after the two victimslodged a complaint with the Child Helpline.

Additional district and sessions judge Poonam Joshi on Friday also imposeda fine of 2.05 lakh INR on the 45-year-old accused. From total amount, 1lakh INR will go to each sister, reported the Hindustan Times.

The accused was held guilty under Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexualassault) of the POCSO Act by the court.

The case surfaced last year in September when the elder daughter of theaccused called up the helpline, accusing her father of sexual abuse. Later,police registered a case under multiple sections of sexual harassment, rapeand others.

The victim told the police that her father had been sexually assaulting herfor long, forcing her to live with her uncle on the first floor of the samehouse. But, her seven-year-old sister and four-year-old brother continuedto live with their father on the ground floor. Their mother has passedaway, Hindustan Times reported.

Later, the seven-year-old girl informed her elder sister that she was alsobeing sexually abused by the father. The 16-year-old victimlater approached a nearby doctor, who contacted the child helpline. Bothminor victims then explained the whole incident before the counsellors.

The girls also underwent the medical examination which confirmed rape.Later, the police arrested the father and initiated legal proceedingsagainst him.
