BEIJING – Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar, met with Hon’bleZhou Qiang, President of the Supreme Peoples Court of China, today inBeijing.
The Honourable Chief Justice is on an official visit to China to attend thethirteenth meeting of the Presidents/ Chief Justices of the Supreme Courtsof the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.
During the meeting, the Hon’ble Chief Justice said that Pakistan Chinarelations are supported by peoples he both countries.
The CJP apprised Zhou Qiang on the implementation of a MoU signed betweenthe judicial institutions of the two countries last year, during the visitof Hon’ble Chief Justice to China.
The judicial cooperation between two countries has started gaining momentumand there is a huge potential for bilateral exchanges in the fields ofarbitration, judicial training, automation of judicial systems and use oftechnology.
Saqib Nisar also said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is aflagship project of One Belt One Road Initiative (BRI) and judiciary ofPakistan fully supports CPEC and committed to taking measures to ease outcommercial disputes for smooth implementation of CPEC projects.
He stated that Supreme Court of Pakistan has recently held a detailedmeeting of all federal departments/ministries with the special focus onCPEC.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has also issued directions to the lowercourts not to issue injunctive orders on CPEC projects unless the otherparties have been heard. He also briefed the Hon’ble Zhou Qiang about therecently concluded Islamabad Judicial Conference.
President Zhou Qiang appreciated the initiatives taken by the Supreme Courtof Pakistan.
He maintained that Pakistan China relations enjoy the full confidence ofthe leadership of two countries and our bilateral cooperation hastransformed into the comprehensive strategic partnership.
Chief Justice of Pakistan also invited honourable Zhou Qiang to visitPakistan to attend the upcoming judicial conference on arbitration.
