ISLAMABAD: Following the deadlock between the Prime Minister, Shahid KhaqanAbbasi, and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Syed KhursheedShah, on the name of the caretaker prime minister, it was decided to takethe matter to the Parliamentary Committee for the final decision.
The nine-member Parliamentary Committee would be constituted by the SpeakerNational Assembly which will have four members from the government and fourfrom the opposition. From the opposition, two members from the PPP, whileone each from PTI and MQM will represent their parties, whereas thegovernment will decide about its four members.
According to sources, the government would name the ex-governor State Bankof Pakistan Dr Shamshad Akhtar and Justice (retd) Tassaduq Jilani for thecaretaker prime minister, while the PPP would name Zaka Ashraf and JalilAbbass Jilani for the caretaker prime minister. The Parliamentary Committeewill take the decision on the basis of majority.
It is to be mentioned that the PTI had also suggested the name of Justice(retd) Tassaduq Hussain Jilani, while the government has also named him forthe post, and if the government and the PTI also agree on his name in theParliamentary Party, then Justice (retd) Tassaduq Hussain Jilani may beappointed as the caretaker PM.
