New Judges take oath as Chief Justice PHC, Supreme Court Judge

ISLAMABAD – Chief Justice (CJ), Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday administeredthe oath of office to Justice Yahya Afridi, CJ, Peshawar High Court, asJudge of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.

The oath taking ceremony was held here at Supreme Court building, in asimple but dignified manner.

The Judges of SC, Attorney General for Pakistan, Advocate GeneralIslamabad, senior lawyers, law officers, officers of Law and JusticeCommission of Pakistan and Federal Judicial Academy Islamabad, attended theceremony.

Registrar SC, Arbab Muhammad Arif conducted the proceedings of the oathtaking ceremony.

Meanwhile, Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth on oath as Chief justice (CJ) ofPeshawar High Court (PHC) in a ceremony held here at Governor House.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra administered oath to the CJPHC. Senior lawyers, elected representatives of Peshawar High Court BarAssociation and judges of PHC attended the oath taking ceremony.

Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth obtained L.L.B degree from Khyber Law CollegePeshawar in 1985. Initially, he was enrolled as an advocate of districtcourts in December 1985 and in 1990 enrolled as an advocate of High Court.

He was appointed as an advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2008 andwas elevated to the bench in August 2011 as additional judge.

He also worked as Banking Judge, Company Judge, PHC and served as Member ofSubordinate Judiciary Service Tribunal Peshawar. – APP
