Shawwal Moon likely to be sighted in Balochistan: PMD

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted onThursday the moon may be sighted in Balochistan’s coastal areas – Pasni andGwadar.

However, since the age of the moon is 19 hours, the PMD has foretold thechances of moon sighting to be ‘fewer’ today.

Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee is meeting in Karachi forsighting the Shawwal moon.

According to Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmonyofficials, Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee meet under the chairmanship ofMufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman while the district committees meet in theirrespective areas.

Earlier today, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the sighting ofmoon marking the beginning of Shawwal with Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated inthe country on Friday.
