Eid ul Fitr may fall on Friday, June 15: Report

KARACHI – The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet in Karachi onThursday for Shawal moon sighting, announced Chairman Mufti Muneebur Rehman.

The meeting will be held at the office of the Pakistan MeteorologicalDepartment after Asar prayers. A formal announcement regarding the EidulFitr and moon sighting will be made by Mufti Muneebur Rehman.

The committee has issued contact numbers– 02199261404, 02199261403, 03009285203 – for the testimony of Shawal moonsighting.

The zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will also meet in the provincial capitalson Thursday in this regard.

Met Prediction

On June 4, Pakistan Meteorological Department said that Eid al-Fitr isexpected to fall on June 16 this year.

According to Met officials, the chances of Shawwaal moon to be sighted onthe evening of June 14 is not very high and therefore, there is a highchance that the Holy month of Ramazan will comprise 30 days and Eid al-Fitrwill be celebrated on June 16, all across Pakistan.

Govt Announces Four Holidays

On June 8, the interior ministry approved a summary for four holidays onthe eve of Eidul Fitr.

The ministry has approved the holidays from June 15 to June 18, anotification regarding which has been released on Friday.
