KARACHI – Pakistan Rangers Sindh on Wednesday claimed that AltafHussain-led Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) has tasked targetkillers to hit men of MQM-P, PSP and other splinter groups.
“Rangers on tip off conducted a joint raid with police in Orangi Town andarrested Muhammad Bilal Lodhi and Muhammad Irshad, two wanted accusedassociated with MQM-London. Both on the orders from leadership had plannedto target candidates of the opponent parties during election 2018,” readsthe handout issued by paramilitary Rangers.
Speaking to *The Frontier Post*, Rangers spokesman further told that thetarget killers wanted to Sabotage elections.
“They during interrogation have disclosed that initially they had plannedto target Mohsin and Arif Hussain, the PMLN and PPP’s candidates fromPS-128.
Four days earlier, this newspaper reported that the Muttahida QaumiMovement-London, led by MQM’s founder Altaf Hussain, has planned toassassinate Chairman PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and leaders of the MQM-P,PTI and PSP.
According to National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) letter, a copy ofwhich is available with *The Frontier Post*, the task was given to RashidMinhai and Waseem alias Qamar Teddy on June, 29, 2018 when MQM-UK chapterwas celebrating 40th foundation day of All Pakistan Mohajir StudentsOrganization (APMSO) in London.
“On this occasion Rashid Minhai and Waseem alias Qamar teddy were tasked totarget political leadership of different political parties through targetkilling teams in order to make a moot situation in Karachi” reads thereport.
“In this connection target killing of second tier leaders of PSP, BilawalBhutto Zardari, Atif Qureshi of PPP, Afaq Ahmed of MQM (H), Amir Khan,Faisal Sabzwari, Khwaja Izharul-Hasan of MQM (P) and Faisal Vawda and AliZaidi of PTI can’t be ruled out,” divulged the NACTA report.
The letter by director operation NACTA, Obaid Farooq Malik, has suggestedextreme vigilance and heightened security measures but several leadersmentioned in the report told *The Frontier Post* on the condition ofanonymity that security steps have not been taken.
Addressing meet the press program at Karachi Press Club here on Saturday,the MQM-P leader Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui told that no securityarrangements have been made despite direct life threats to its threeleaders.
A day earlier, this newspaper had reported that warnings regarding pollingday violence in different parts of Sindh especially where Pakistan People’sParty and Pakistan Muslim League Functional’s candidate are up for closecontest.
“Political leadership of different political groups has remained on targetof extremists groups for their stance against the terror activities,” readsa report copy of which is available with *The Frontier Post*, adding inSindh province, political leadership in general and those of PPP, MQM-P,ANP, MWM, in particular warrants extra security precautions to avert anyuntoward incident.
“There are serious apprehension of clash between political activists ofrival groups during election canvassing and other activities, particularlyin Karachi as well as parts of interior Sindh,” reads the report.
“In this regard, activists of MQM-P, PTI, PPP, ANP, PSP, PML-N, TLP, etc.may be locked in a clash during election campaign or on day of pollingactivity”, it further alerts.
According to intelligence agencies the recurrence of recent showdownbetween activists of PPP and PTI in Karachi cannot be ruled out either insame city or other in the province.
“Tension also exists between activists of PSP and different factions ofMQM-P in Karachi/Hyderabad, etc. Possibility of violence in different partsof Karachi between said groups is seriously apprehended,” it reads.
According to report there are chances of violence between the activists ofPTI. “Acrimony between the activists of PPP and PML-F already exists sincerecent exchange of barbs between the two camps, may take an ugly turn inthe form of violence during electoral activities or on polling day”.
“Likewise, there is possibility of clash in District Tharparkar in betweenthe followers of Shah Mehmood Qureshi and PPP supporters of Rahimoon andSamejo clans, during election campaign or on polling day,” it reads.
“Tribal enmities between different tribes and clans in Sindh province alsopose serious risk to law & order situation during the months ofelectioneering.
“The number of unresolved tribal disputes is very high, however, recentincidents suggest following tribal enmities calls for immediate attention”reads the report, listing enmities including Bijrani-Teghani in DistrictKashmore and Shikarpur, Abra-Mahar in District Larkana, Khuhro-Bhutto inDistrict Larkana, Kakepota-Brohi in District Shikarpur, Shaikh-Brohi inDistrict Shikarpur, Shar-Kehar in District Shikarpur , Kalhora-Mangneja inDistrict Shikarpur, Chandio-Gaincha in District Qambar-Shandadkot,Chandio-Janvri in District Qambar-Shandadkot, Intra-Magsi in DistrictQambar-Shandadkot , Intra-Chandio dispute in Mehar, District Dadu,Junejo-Solangi in District Khairpur and Rajar-Marri in District Sanghar.
