TEHRAN (IRNA)– Iran has filed a complaint on US ‘re-imposition ofunilateral sanctions’ with the International Court of Justice, IranianForeign Minister said on Monday.
‘Today Iran filed a complaint @CIJ_ICJ to hold US accountable for itsunlawful re-imposition of unilateral sanctions. Iran is committed to therule of law in the face of the US contempt for diplomacy & legalobligations. It’s imperative to counter its habit of violating int’l law,’he said.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the US,France, Britain, China, and Russia) plus Germany signed the nuclear deal in2015. Iran accepted to curb its nuclear program in exchange for economicsanctions relief.
The US President Donald Trump withdrew from the deal in May, calling it theworst deal ever. Washington has also re-imposed the economic sanctions thatwill take effect on August 6.
