ISLAMABAD – Authorities have decided to divert the plane carrying deposedprime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam to Islamabad airport,concerning security threats in Lahore.

Nawaz is expected to arrive in Pakistan later on Friday as authorities tookmeasures to contain PML-N’s welcoming rally expected to move towards Lahoreairport. Nawaz and daughter Maryam will be arrested by the authorities onarrival.

Authorities are then expected to shift the two in a helicopter to Islamabadand then onwards to Adiala jail.

Nawaz was sentenced in absentia last week to 10 years in prison by acorruption court over the purchase of high-end properties in London,dealing a serious blow to his Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party’sbid weeks ahead of the July 25 polls.
