LONDON – Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawazwill depart from Heathrow Airport for Lahore on Thursday.
Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz arrived in London before Eidul Fitr and willreturn to Pakistan on Friday. The return comes a week after theaccountability court handed an 11-year sentence to Nawaz and eight years toMaryam in the Avenfield case. Nawaz was also fined eight million and Maryamtwo million pounds.
Maryam’s husband, Captain (retd) Safdar was sentenced to one year.
On the other hand, the National Accountability Bureau has arranged twohelicopters. One helicopter will be at Lahore Airport, while the otherwould be in Islamabad.
A 16-member NAB team has been tasked to arrest the duo. The NAB hasdirected security personnel to remain alert tomorrow. NAB Chairman Justice(retd) Javed Iqbal has warned that strict action will be taken against thepeople obstructing the arrest of PML-N leaders.
