Pakistan is left with 100m acre feet of water

ISLAMABAD – *The Wapda chairperson told the media that Pakistan has 100million acre feet of water left.*

Lieutenant General (retd) Muzzamil Hussain was speaking to the media afterthe Supreme Court-ordered committee for the construction of dams held itsfirst meeting on Thursday.

He said that since Pakistan’s creation, only two big dams have beenconstructed.

The Wapda chairperson said after 1976 work on the construction of damsslowed down considerably.

The chief justice had earlier ordered that a fund be set up for theconstruction of dams in the country. Both government institutions and thecommon man can donate to this fund.
