RAWALPINDI – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued aquestionnaire to former president Pervez Musharraf in the case of ‘holdingassets beyond income’.
The questionnaire has been handed over to Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer AkhtarShah. He has been asked to submit the reply within 15 days to the NABinvestigating team.
Akhtar Shah advocate said that Musharraf will appear before the NAB if theneed be.
Earlier, the NAB executive board had decided to investigate allegationsagainst former president Pervez Musharraf for ‘holding assets beyond means’.
On February 9, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had redefined NAB’s powers, allowing the bureau to investigate former military men, especially retiredgenerals, and directed it to investigate Musharraf for his allegedcorruption while holding his office.
The February judgment had cleared a 19-year-old ambiguity in the NationalAccountability Ordinance (NAO) due to which NAB had always shown reluctancein proceeding against retired army officers despite complaints ofcorruption against them.
