ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate fromMuzaffargarh Haroon Sultan Bukhari has been served a show-cause notice forhis recent statement against ‘casting vote for women’.

The candidate has been asked to appear in deputy commissioner office at10:00 am tomorrow, said the district returning officer on Wednesday.

“one sided action would be taken against Sultan, if he does not appear,’the notice read.

The PML-N had termed it ‘haram’ (forbidden by Islam) to cast vote forwomen.

Haroon is contesting elections from the National Assembly constituencyNA-184 against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI’s) female candidate ZehraBasit Sultan Bukhari, who is also reportedly his sister-in-law.

Haroon made this contentious claim while addressing a public meeting in hisconstituency.
