KARACHI – In a bid to strike a chord with the people of Pakistan, apolitician adopted a bizarre way to attract attention before the generalelections, which will be held on July 25.

Ayaz Memon Motiwala from Karachi decided to sit in garbage dumps and liedown in sewage water. The politician, who according to *Dawn*, is anindependent candidate from Karachi, posted on Facebook pictures of himselfsitting on a pile of garbage, lying down in sewage water and inside apothole. Moreover, he also drank the sewage water he was sitting on, in aFacebook Live video as part of his strange campaign.

Motiwala’s pictures are garnering attention online and have alreadycollected over 1,800 likes and hundreds of comments. The pictures alsogained mixed reactions but the politician stood by his unique way ofcampaigning and said his idea was to draw attention to the unhygienicconditions and faulty sewage systems of the city.

Several people slammed Motiwala labelling his stunt as a desperate attemptfor attention while there are others who have come out in the politician’ssupport. “Drama”, wrote one Facebook commenter, while another said “Verygood job sir”.
