TEHRAN: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani departed for Europe today to secure support for the landmark nuclear agreement of 2015.
Rouhani was set to visit Switzerland and Austria. Talking to reporters at Tehran Airport, he said that the visit will be an opportunity to talk about the future of the nuclear agreement.
Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is also scheduled to hold talks with Swiss officials in Bern.
Austria took over the European Union’s six-month rotating presidency yesterday, while Switzerland represents US interests in Iran owing to the absence of diplomatic relations between Washington and Tehran.
