ISLAMABAD – *Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the president of MMA wants a governmentin Islamabad led by the opposition alliance. *
*He has come up with a ‘plan’ to thwart PTI chief Imran Khan’s efforts tobecome the prime minister.*
“If the PPP and PML-N can join hands, we can prevent Imran Khan frombecoming the prime minister,” he suggested at the All Parties Conference(APC) on Monday. “If [Asif Ali] Zardari and Shehbaz [Sharif] can take adecision, I am ready to act with full force.”
Maulana Fazl said that all the parties at the conference should considerforming their own government and installing a prime minister. “If we focuson an opposition alliance’s number game, we can be successful,” said theMMA chief.
The MMA, which stands for Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, is an alliance ofreligious parties across Pakistan. The MMA’s vice-president, Sirajul Haq,who is also the Jamaat-e-Islami’s chief, announced on Monday that they willtake up the opposition benches.
More than a dozen parties announced at an APC in Islamabad on Friday thatthey will protest over the election results. However, the group remaineddivided with some parties pledging to boycott joining the National Assemblyand others calling for a new vote.
