LAHORE – Shamim Akhtar, the mother of former Nawaz Sharif on Sunday wasrushed to hospital where she underwent medical check-up.

Following the test she was hospitalsed, doctors said.

Shameem Akhtar, who is a heart patient, was hospitalised after a medicalteam at Sharif Medical Complex observed changes in her health.

Akhtar, 85, earlier this month She vowed to accompany Nawaz Sharif to jailafter he arrived in Pakistan.

She said that her son was returning to Pakistan to see her, adding that shebelieved the former prime minister, her granddaughter and son-in-law wereinnocent.

Nawaz, who returned from Britain, was handed a 10-year jail term on July 6by an anti-corruption court in Pakistan, while his daughter and politicalheir Maryam Nawaz was sentenced to seven years in prison over the purchaseof luxury flats in London in the 1990s.
