ISLAMABAD – General elections for the seats of National Assembly and thefour provincial assemblies will be held on Wednesday.
The polling will begin at eight in the morning and continue till six in theevening. It is the first time that the polling time has been extended byone hour for the convenience of voters.
There will be a public holiday tomorrow so that the people could exercisetheir right to vote without any hindrance.
Of the 272 seats of National Assembly, elections will be held on 270 seats.Election on two National Assembly constituencies have been postponed.
As regards the four provincial assemblies, elections will be held on 570seats against the total tally of 577.

Over 12,500 candidates are in the run for the seats of National andprovincial assemblies.
According to the electoral rolls, 105.96 million voters are eligible tocast the vote. Of these , 59.22 million are male and 46.73 million arefemales.
*85,307 polling stations set up across the country*
In all, 85,307 polling stations have been set up across the country. Overtwenty thousand polling stations have been declared sensitive and CCTVcameras have been installed inside and outside all the sensitive pollingstations.
450,000 policemen and three hundred thousand army troops will be deployedon the polling day. As many as 750,000 polling staff will perform duty onthe election day.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan has completed all thearrangements for the smooth conduct of the elections.
