*ISLAMABAD: *Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been provided with atelevision set and Air Conditioner in the barrack where he is being kept insolitary confinement.
His daughter, Maryam Nawaz, who is also detained in solitary confinement afew barracks away, was provided with a newspaper for the first time onSaturday.
However, her repeated requests for a pen and paper were turned down by thejail authorities.
Meanwhile, Nawaz’s son-in-law, Capt (retd) Safdar, has lost three to fourkilograms of weight because he was denied the diet prescribed by hisdoctors.
A little over a week after the Sharifs were incarcerated at Rawalpindi’scentral jail, they met their legal team for the first on Saturday forroughly one-and-a-half hour.
Members of their legal team included Khawaja Haris, Amjad Pervaiz, SaadHashmi, Aurangzeb Rao, Zaafir Khan Tareen and Azam Nazir Tarar.
After the lawyers’ visit, it emerged that the Sharifs were being kept inseparate barracks measuring 12×12 feet. Hygiene is not up to the mark andmosquitoes were in abundance.
The Sharifs and others are not allowed to meet each other and their roomsare locked up at 5pm every evening and opened again at 5am the next morning.
Verandahs around their barracks are also locked.
The lawyers said that their clients were all in high spirits. They did notprovide much detail.
