ISLAMABAD – PML-N Leader and candidate of NA-60 Rawalpindi Hanif Abbasiwill be shifted to Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
He has been awarded life imprisonment in ephedrine quota case byAnti-Narcotics Court Rawalpindi.
The verdict was read by Judge of special court of Anti-Narcotics MohammadAkram Khan.
After announcement of the verdict, Hanif Abbasi has been taken into custodyfrom courtroom. Seven other co-accused have been acquitted on benefit ofdoubt.
Anti-Narcotics Court Rawalpindi had reserved judgment in the case afterHanif Abbasi’s lawyer Tanveer Iqbal and the counsel for Anti-NarcoticsForce concluded their arguments.
The Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench had directed the special court toconduct hearing into the case on daily basis from 16th of this month anddecide it by today.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court had dismissed Hanif Abbasi’s petition againstthe Lahore High Court’s order.
