NEW DELHI – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government won theOpposition backed no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha on Friday with 325MPs voted against the motion.

The vote took place after PM Modi’s address in the lower house as thedebate on the motion ran late into the night.

The Prime Minister mocked Rahul Gandhi for hugging him during the debate,saying the Congress president was actually dreaming of becoming the nextPrime Minister and had asked him to get up from his seat in the Lok Sabha.

Earlier in the day, Modi was attacked by leaders of several oppositionparties, including Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Telugu Desam Party’sJayadev Galla, during the discussion over a number of issues.
