ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Ali Jahangir Siddiqui lands intohot waters.
Siddiqui has been summoned by the NAB in alleged corruption references onAugust 27.
Siddiqui faces charges of embezzling Rs40 billion, inside trading in stockexchange and investing in foreign countries that costed billions to theshareholders.
He is also accused of selling shares to government institutions onexhorbitant prices that allegedly caused a loss of Rs20 billion to thenational exchequer.
Siddiqui, son of prominent businessman Jahangir Siddiqui, appeared beforethe investigation team and recorded his statement in as many as 19inquiries on March 22.
Separately, NAB has also summoned Chaudry Pervaiz Elahi and ChaudhryShujaat Hussain along with relevant records for allegedly possesing assetsbeyond known income tomorrow at 11am.
The petition against them for possessing illegal assets of more than Rs2billion was filed in January 2000, following which NAB initiatedinvestigation against them on April 12, 2000.
