ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly very unhappywith former captain Mohammad Hafeez’s recent behavior following hisdemotion to category B in the newly announced central contracts.
The all-rounder, who has played 50 Tests for Pakistan, was furious andwanted to quit international cricket, according to some media reports. However, clarifying the confusion, Hafeez wrote on Twitter:
Regarding central contract issue, I want to yet again clear to all my fansand media people that I always played for Pakistan with highest passion, dignity and honour, surely not for money. I am happy to serve my belovedcounty in even C or D category, no matter what, but to play with respect.

Despite this attempt from Hafeez to put the rumors to bed, sources claimthat PCB is still not convinced and wants the player to make a finaldecision about his career before the Asia Cup commences in UAE.
Prior to this, Najam Sethi also spoke to the media and claimed that PCBwill not be intimidated by anyone. He added that PCB will not make anychanges to the central contracts at any cost.
According to sources, Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq will lead Pakistan inAsia Cup whereas Hafeez will feature as a reserve opener. If the feud isnot settled by the time PCB has to submit the squad for Asia Cup, Hafeez islikely to be left out.
It should be pointed out that Hafeez was also a part of Pakistan’s squadwhich took on Zimbabwe but was not selected to play for a single match.Reportedly, Hafeez refused to play when he was offered a chance to play inthe last ODI.
