LAHORE – Runner-up Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate Abid Sher Aliplea has been rejected by Lahore High Court for a vote recount in NA-108(Faisalabad).

The single bench comprising Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh heard the petition.

During the proceedings, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that his clientlost the election from NA-108 to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate FarrukhHabib by a thin margin. The counsel questioning the election results of theconstituency levelled various allegations and pleaded with the court toorder a vote recount in the constituency.

However, Farrukh’s counsel argued that a vote recount had already beenconducted on an application of Abid Sher Ali. He pleaded with the court todismiss the petition.

The court after hearing arguments dismissed the petition.

It is pertinent to mention here that on August 3, the court had stoppedElection Commission of Pakistan from issuing notification of victory ofFarrukh Habib from the constituency but after the dismissal of thepetition, the bar ended.
