DUBAI – *The International Cricket Council has decided to fine India’sIshant Sharma for breaching its code of conduct.*
The Indian pacer has been fined 15% of his match salary and received onedemerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC code of conduct for playersand player support personnel during the third day’s play in the first testagainst England at Edgbaston.
The cricketer was found guilty of violating article 2.1.7 which relates to“using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provokean aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during aninternational match”.
The fast bowler was charged by on-field umpires Aleem Dar and ChrisGaffaney, third umpire Marais Erasmus as well as fourth umpire Tim Robinson.
The incident took place when Sharma celebrated the dismissal of England’sDawid Malan while being too close to him.
Sharma admitted his offence and accepted the sanctions. There was noofficial meeting held following the incident.
