Pakistan Railways sends four alleged corruption cases of Saad Rafuque tenure to NAB

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed has sent four casesof former Minister Khawaja Saad Rafuque era to National AccountabilityBureau (NAB).

The Shalimar Hospital is one of the busiest hospitals of Lahore’s suburbanareas. Constructed on a piece of railways land, the hospital’s lease periodhas expired.

The minister reiterated that he was looking to lease out railways land, andother assets to the private sector and added he was searching for privateparties that could revamp railway stations for free, claiming that manyoverseas Pakistanis have already shown their willingness to work forrailways — free of cost.

“We invite private parties to upgrade five railway station sites, forfree,” he said, adding: “We do welcome new ideas for railways and willbuild up a website for that.”

Since taking charge on August 20, Rashid has on multiple times expressedcommitment to transform railways primarily by opening up the entity’s hugeinfrastructure and assets for the private sector and to attract the sectorfor railways hospitals and educational institutes uplift.
