MUMBAI – India’s economy has touched the highest ever growth rate of itshistory since its independence.

Indian economy grew at a stunning 8.2 per cent in the first quarter of the2018-19 financial year, official data showed Friday.

Central Statistics Office figures showed GDP growth from April to June inAsia’s third-biggest economy improved from 7.7 per cent in the previousquarter.

The latest figures, which mark India’s highest growth rate in eightquarters, shot up from 5.6 per cent for the same period last year,reinforcing the nation’s status as one of the world’s fastest-growingeconomies.
