ISLAMABAD – The FIA has revealed in Supreme Court of Pakistan that howmoney was laundered out of Pakistan in the Rs 35 billion money launderingscam.
FIA submitted a report on its probe to a bench, headed by Chief Justice ofPakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, hearing the money laundering case.
In its report, FIA said they unearthed Omni Group’s affiliate tradingcompany in Dubai during the probe.
As per the report, two foreign bank accounts of Kam Crown Trading Companywere created in the office of Abdul Ghani Majeed, son of former presidentAsif Ali Zardari’s close aide and Omni Group chairman Anwar Majeed.
“Through the Dubai foreign accounts money was transferred to buy propertyin Britain,” the report stated.
As the hearing began, former president Asif Ali Zardari’s counsel requestedthat the hearing be postponed. However, the chief justice rejected hisrequest stating that several lawyers were present in court.
The deputy attorney general informed the court that the hearing was fixedto discuss the formation of a JIT and that Zardari and his sister, FaryalTalpur, had been granted protective bail.
To this, the chief justice questioned which court had approved theirprotective bail.
