KARACHI – Four more children have passed away in the past 24 hours inSindh Thar area due to malnutrition.
The Sindh health department said the deaths took place at Civil Hospital,Mithi. The deceased included two infants.
The latest deaths have taken the death toll in Tharparker to 35 for thismonth.
According to the health department, every year 1,500 children die due tomalnutrition, infections and lack of proper medical facilities in theremote region.
A report released by the United Nation’s Children Fund in April stated thatPakistan is among countries with the highest infant mortality rates, with22 infants dying before turning one month old.
