ISLAMABAD – Startling revelations have surfaced in the Pakistan SuperLeague as per the Audit Report published out by the Auditor General ofPakistan.

Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has highlighted significant discrepancieswith regards to the first and second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

It has been revealed that Major contracts were awarded without publishing aproper call for tenders during the first two seasons of PSL. If thecontracts were given by following the correct procedures, the board’sfinancial gains would have improved considerably.

Sources have also said that many appointments on important positions werebased on favouritism while production and ticketing matters were nothandled properly.

The selections of Naila Bhatti — Director Marketing — and Usman Wahla —General Manager International Cricket Operations — were specificallymentioned. The audit raised questions over their appointments as far morequalified individuals were available to take up those roles.

The sources further stated that the audit pointed out unnecessary expensesduring the local and foreign visits made by board officials whereas therewere also reservations over salaries and bonuses given to certainemployees. The massive amounts spent on organising opening ceremonies wereanother major cause of concern
