ISLAMABAD – Federal government has hinted to review petroleum prices byslashing the taxes on POL products.
Federal Minister petroleum Ghulam Sarwar has stated that diesel priceswould be made at par with the price of petrol.
Ghulam Sarwar was addressing a press conference here on Friday.
Diesel was cheaper than petrol but now its price is higher than the petroland the government would review it, he further said.
Sarwar said the prices of petroleum products and taxes would be reviewedand fixed in accordance with the international market.
Replying to a query, the minister said that all major agreementsparticularly those which were hidden would be examined and placed onministry’s official website. The ministry would examine itself all suchagreements before any step of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), headded.
He said efforts would be made to start ofTurkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline (TAPI) project by 2019.Regarding Iran Pakistan gas pipeline the minister said that the federalgovernment was not moving ahead with the project due to sanctions imposedon Iran.
Iran may try to go to International court against Pakistan, however, thegovernment would try to avoid reaching such situation.
