ISLAMABAD – A meteorite fell near the city of Bhakkar last week accordingto preliminary reports from the area.
Scientific experts from the Geology Department at Punjab University will beperforming further analysis on the stone to determine the authenticity ofthese reports.
Several eyewitness accounts suggested that shepherds tending to their flockin a small town near tehsil Darya Khan of district Bhakkar reported anunusual occurrence to the police last week.
According to residents of Kanyal, a stone from the sky fell into a grazingground near the rural establishment on Thursday afternoon.
Meteorites are small bodies of matter from space, which hit the surface ofthe earth. Meteorites are different from meteors, which are bodies ofmatter that burn into a load of dust and fire upon entering the atmosphereof earth, while meteoroids are bodies of matter that have not entered theatmosphere of earth, yet.
