PESHAWAR – Salahuddin Khan Mehsud has been appointed as the new InspectorGeneral of Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following theoath-taking ceremony of the new Prime Minister Imran Khan. In his exclusivetalk to Daily Times, a senior member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), whowished to go unnamed, said that Salahuddin Mehsud has been selectedunanimously as he had already served the province in an extremely diligentmanner, however, a formal notification will be issued on Monday.
Salahuddin Mehsud, who is a grade 21 officer of the Police Service ofPakistan (PSP), however, declined to comment on the matter.
He joined PSP in 1989, and served as IG of KP from March 2017 till June2018.
He also served in Crime Investigation Department (CID), traffic, FrontierReserve Police (FRP) and the Counter-Terrorism Force for over two years. Heis the native of South Waziristan tribal region.
