Pakistan China military relations are important pillar of strategic ties: Top Chinese General

*BEIJING – Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) GeneralZhang Youxia has termed Pakistan China military relations as importantpillar of strategic ties.*

During the meeting with COAS General Qamar Javaid Bajwa, Gen Zhang Youxiasaid that China greatly values its time tested relations with Pakistan andits Army.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Gen Youxia said thatChina looks forward to further expanding this cooperation. He said thatdevelopment of CPEC is aimed at bringing more benefits and prosperity tothe people of both the countries.

The Vice Chairman termed Pak-China military cooperation as an importantpillar of bilateral relations. He said that the two militaries shouldfurther strengthen this cooperation to safeguard common security challenges.

The Generals also discussed areas of further bilateral military cooperationin the field of counterterrorism, arms & equipment technology, andtraining. Pakistan army chief thanked Vice Chairman for the Chinese supportand cooperation. Ambassador of Pakistan at China was also present duringthe meeting.

Yesterday (Sep 18), Gen Bajwa visited the headquarters of People’sLiberation Army (PLA) in Beijing and met his counterpart General Han Weiguo.

Both the commanders discussed regional security environment, security ofthe China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and bilateral securitycooperation.

The PLA chief appreciated and acknowledged the high professional standingof the Pakistan Army displayed while combating terrorism. He alsoappreciated the high degree of security being provided to CPEC by PakistanArmy.
