LAHORE – Police Reforms Commission to be established in Punjab, it has beenrevealed.

The Commission will give recommendations for amendment of legislation andpolicies regarding police reforms.

Sources said that the commission will also give recommendations regardingpolice structure, administrative issues, capacity building.

According to the draft prepared by the Punjab Home Department, the chairmanof the commission will be appointed by the provincial government who willhave powers to appoint its members.

Sources further informed that commission’s chairman, members and assistantmembers will not be entitled to any benefit or compensation for theirservices. Formulation of model police laws will also be included in theobjectives of commission.
