KARACHI – State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday rejected rumors relatedto discontinuation of Rs5,000 banknote and urged people not to pay heed tosuch disinformation.

In a statement issued by the centrak bank, the SBP board has not submittedany recommendation for demonetization or discontinuation of Rs.5000 or anyother banknote to Federal Government or Cabinet.

In case of demonetization of any bank note, SBP announces the same well inadvance and provides ample time to public to change the currency underdemonetization process.

The bank has also placed all such announcements on its website andcirculates the same through its social media platforms as well.
