*KABUL – A suicide bomber on a motorbike blew himself up near a convoy ofgunmen commemorating the death anniversary of a famed resistance leader inKabul on Sunday, wounding at least two people, officials said.*
The militant targeted the group of vehicles in the centre of the Afghancapital, Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai told AFP, adding therewere no reports of fatalities.
The interior ministry confirmed the casualty toll.
But health ministry spokesman Waheed Majroh said one person had been killedand two wounded.
Afghan security forces had earlier shot dead a man they said had beenplanning to blow himself up near supporters of Ahmad Shah Massoud.
The Tajik commander led resistance to the Soviet occupation in the 1980sand to the 1996-2001 Taliban regime.
The attack came as convoys of gun-wielding men terrorised Kabul as theycommemorated the 17th anniversary of Massoud’s death. – APP/AFP
