Russia, Turkey and Iran stand united against US ambitions in Syria

TEHRAN – Russia,Turkey and Iran at their talks in Tehran have called for apolitical settlement of the Syrian conflict.

A joint statement issued after a trilateral summit between TurkishPresident Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Hassan Rouhani and Vladimir Putin in Tehrantoday.

They emphasized their strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence,unity and territorial integrity of Syria, as well as to the purposes andprinciples of the UN Charter and highlighted that these should be respectedby all.”

The leaders “rejected all attempts to create new realities on the groundunder the pretext of combating terrorism,” while expressing determinationto stand against separatist agendas aimed at undermining the sovereigntyand territorial integrity of Syria and national security of neighboringcountries.

The joint statement said that the three leaders also highlighted the “needto create conditions for the safe and voluntary return of refugees andinternally displaced persons to their original places of residence inSyria.”

Russia, Iran, and Turkey also called for the United Nations and itshumanitarian agencies to help Syria by providing additional humanitarianaid.
