President, PM under terrorism case to file acquittal plea

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed his legal team on Fridayto file acquittal pleas in cases registered against party leaders relatedto attacks on Pakistan Television (PTV) and Parliament House during the PTI2014 sit-in.

According to reposts, the pleas for acquittal of party leaders booked inthe cases will be filed on September 11.

PTI legal team said that the cases were politically motivated which is whywe will request the court to acquit the party leaders.

ATC Judge Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi has summoned all accused in the cases onSeptember 11.

The prime minister and other party leaders, including President-elect DrArif Alvi, Finance Minister Asad Umar and Foreign Minister Shah MehmoodQureshi, are accused of attacking the Parliament and PTV office during the2014 sit-in in Islamabad.

The PTI and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leaders were booked after theymarched towards the Parliament and PM House during the 2014 sit-in, in anattempt to topple the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government after theModel Town incident. They also clashed with policemen along their way.
