A unique and strange case in the legal history of Pakistan filed in the Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court of Pakistan faces a unique and first ever case ofsuch kind in the legal history of Pakistan.

18-year-old Pakistani girl has filed a petition in the Supreme Court ofPakistan and she desires to disown her father’s name.

She has petitioned to remove her father’s name from birth certificate andother related official documents.

The girl prays, “If parents can disown children, why can’t children do so?”

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisarand comprising Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijazul Ahsan, heard theunique case filed by 18-year-old Tatheer.

The girl went on to say, “How a person who she had never seen can be calledher father?”

She had appealed the apex court to remove her father’s name from birthcertificate, educational degrees and other related documents.
