ISLAMABAD – Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry asserted on Thursday thatthese are the last 10 to 15 years of television as the future calls for ashift towards digital media which is expanding.
Addressing an event organised by Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors inIslamabad, the minister said there would be a need to ultimately move todigital portals as the next 10 years will see a technological revolution,three times more than what the world has been undergoing through in thelast 25 years.
About the government spendings on advertisements, Chaudhry said it wasneeded for the print media but hastened to add that “this is not thefuture”.
The lawmaker expressed that transition towards modernisation was needed forthe future and that would also require changes in marketing strategies.
‘The ruling government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf plans to bring changesto the media landscape of Pakistan,’ vowed the minister who has recentlytaken charge.
The interaction with the top guns of media came days after he announcedthat a new authority would be established to replace the existing PakistanElectronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and Press Council of Pakistan.
