LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar has broken silence overthe issue of DPO Pakpattan Rizwan Gondal transfer.
He has confessed an emergency meeting on issue of altercation of KhawarManeka and his family with police officials.
Responding to a question whether Pakpattan District Police Officer (DPO)was transferred on his orders, CM replied the hearing of the case isunderway in the court and thus, he would avoid making any comment on theissue.
On question about ongoing projects, CM announced he would continue work on‘good prjects’ of the Shehbaz-led former Punjab govt including Orange LineTrain.
Earlier, Former Pakpattan District Police Officer (DPO) Rizwan Gondal—whopulled over first lady’s ex-husband Khawar Fareed Manika—has submitted hiswritten reply before the inquiry committee averring he hadn’t committed anyoffence, sources privy to Punjab Police told Dunya News.
As per reply submitted by Gondal, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdarcalled a meeting at CM House soon after the controversial-riddenaltercation. The reply states an irrelevant person was also present in themeeting who posed extraneous questions.
The reply also revealed Gondal was indulged in verbal duel with RPO duringthe same meeting.
Sources privy to police department stated Gondal was immensely pressurizedby officials to visit Manika’s dera to seek forgiveness. During the samehuddle, the decision was taken to change Pakpattan DPO as Gondal refused totender apology. Gondal asserted Manika family hurled expletives at policeofficials.Gondal requested inquiry officer to make expletives—hurled by Manikafamily—part of ongoing investigation.
On the very next day, personal secretary of Punjab CM telephoned DPO torelinquish charge. After 20 minutes, DIG Headquarters released orderdirecting Gondal to relinquish charge as Pakpattan DPO with immediateeffect.
On the other hand, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar onThursday took suo motu notice of transfer of Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondalafter alleged altercation with first lady Bushra Manika’s ex-husband KhawarFareed Manika.
As per details garnered, Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) will assume hearingof the case on August 31.
