NEW YORK – The United Nations High Commission for Refugees has sought aclarification from India for deporting seven Rohingya men to Myanmar.
Spokesman of UN High Commission for Refugees Andrej Mahecic at a newsbriefing in Geneva today (Friday) said Rohingya men had been denied accessto legal counsel and a chance to have their asylum claims assessed.
He further said current conditions in Myanmar’s Rakhine state are notconducive for safe, dignified and sustainable return of stateless Rohingyarefugees.
