Hussain Haqqani, former Pakistani Ambassador in US lands into yet another trouble

ISLAMABAD – Former Pakistani Ambassador in US, Hussain Haqqani lands intoyet another trouble.

A Court in Islamabad has issued permanent arrest warrant of formerambassador to the United States Hussain Haqqani today (Friday).

During the hearing of Memogate case headed by special judge Irum Niazi,Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented its report, alleging Haqqaniof embezzlement of Rs2 million dollars.

The officials said that the ex-ambassador is deliberately hiding to avoidarrest.

The Memogate controversy revolves around a memorandum allegedly drafted byHaqqani at the behest of former president Asif Ali Zardari and addressed toUS Admiral Mike Mullen.

Haqqani was criticised by the Pakistani parliament for his column in TheWashington Post in which he had written that he had helped US forces inaction against Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden when the government and theInter-Services Intelligence had been kept in the dark about the secretoperation.
