*ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court has announced the verdict in the case of bailcancellation of police officers nominated in Benazir Bhutto murder case.*

*A request to cancel the bail granted to former SPO Saud Aziz bail and SPKhurram Shahzad in the Benazir Bhutto murder case was rejected on Friday bythe Supreme Court.*

The petition was filed by the mother of Benazir’s chief security officerTauqeer Kaira who was also killed in the 2007 attack. The case was heard byJustice Asif Saeed Khosa.

The petition argued that Aziz and Shahzad were granted bail and posted atimportant positions illegally.

The policemen were suspects in the murder case since they cleaned themurder scene soon after the attack. They were granted bail by the IslamabadHigh Court. An ATC had awarded them 17 years in the case.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Sardar Latif Khosa, argued that the cops wereinvolved in the murder conspiracy because they destroyed evidence. Hequestioned how they were granted bail against an ATC judgment. He said Azizwas responsible for providing Benazir a secure enclosure but instead ofdoing that he sent an SSP and other officers for security.
